Random thoughts while watching tonight's Eureka:

I really love Nathan this year. He's so much more fun now that he's not being asked to run GD.

And can I say Oh My God, Jo is... really hot in this episode.

Poor Jack.... Poor little fucked up relationship Jack. *pout*

HAH! Felon boy is a MORON! Good. I quite like some of Jo's other beaus.

I so need Nathan/Jack from THIS season! Not last season, because, you know, NO. But this season? Yes. Yes please!

Hey Sam! I still find you irritating.

I love Jo and Zoe. Not Jo/Zoe, because... quite NO. But Zoe and Jo as BFF? *snerk* Is wonderful.

Oh Jack, you are so cute with your sexy investigator-ness.

Nathan? Still pretty.

Henry? Still seriously fucked up. And pretty.

*hee* Jack... so awkward and silly with his "not important anymore." And now Zoe thinks she's going to die! HA! This is the most transparent of a number of transparent tropes in this episode, because it's clearly a fake. I mean, come on! *hee*

The tension between Jack and Henry? No longer just sexual, you know? Now, is scary tension.

"I wonder if GD is built on a Hellmouth." "A hellmouth!?" *ggl uncontrolably*

Ah, now you get it. Snub not the preacher, oh citizens of Eureka. I mean, you know it's not her, right? It's crazy Janet. But still, nice herring, my friends. This would be Obvious Trope Number... something high and massive.

Oh dear. Deathbed confessions with GD's muck a muck. About feggin' time, Nathan! Never seen a guy so reticent to say I love you!

And speaking of dysfunctional relationships--look! It's Zane and Jo. Go back to Taggart, Jo. He was a man who knew the worth of a good gun.

So, Jack? Why you still have your BFF following you around after that flashback you had? Hmm.

Oh dear. Come on, now. Let's not go for the "everyone crowds around the messiah" moment, please?

Okay, this? This is bad. One more thing to add to Henry's arsenal in how to go back and fix Kim's death.

One more nail in the coffin. Not only do you go back in time and stop him, but then you turn off the portal so he can't try again. Bad, Jack. Very, very bad.

I so need to go back and analyze every episode. Oh my God. This is such the most melancholic comedy on television. *happy sigh*

JACK, returning the sonnets! All involved in the sonnet thing (listen to Colin's podcast for 202, and you'll get what I mean) are brilliant, brilliant. OH MEEP! "Henry? You're my best friend." *sniffle*

Okay, though, seriously, the whole "everyone now goes to church because they've seen the light" thing? A bit like the "everyone rises up to protect the messiah" trope. Don't like. Please not to do.

Anyway, I really have nothing else to say until I go back and analyze every single episode and come up with my unified theory of Eureka and rule the world bore you all to death regale you all with it. *snerk*

Must go to sleep now. Yes. Sleep.

ETA: Went to sleep. Slept really badly. At one point, Charles Kimbrough came at me, arm outstretched like a manic zombie in WAY too much cake makeup, and poked me so hard in the back that the pain woke me out of a sound sleep. Actually, that was the massive back cramp, but still. Weird. Bad Charles Kimbrough!

Every episode of Eureka I fall in love with it anew. They may have the occasional annoyance (like the seeing the light thing) but overall, it's such a great show, with a great ensemble cast. I love everyone. Even Nathan! I need to check out the podcasts one of these days.

I think your comment about it being the "most melancholic comedy on television" is spot on.

The podcasts are GOLD. Seriously. I think the fact that Colin Ferguson is a geek makes this show so much more fun for me. I can kind of see him, waiting for a take, listening to the FX guys explain the neat stuff they're going to edit into the film and saying "cool." Possibly while clapping his hands like a little girl. *snerk*

And really, the annoyances are part of why it's fun, usually. I mean, you advance plot guess, and you know every red herring is a red herring, and yet... none of that matters. It's the characters that get you. Especially Jack and Zoe. I think that may be the coolest father-daughter pair EVER.

As to the melancholy... I think they mostly do it so Colin can do his "I'm not crying *sniffle*. Really. Just *sniff* something in my eye" thing. Because that just breaks me. And all the world revolves around me, so, you know, that's clearly why they do it that way, right?

Nathan this season owns me. OMG. And when he can't figure out what to do with Alison? his "what do I do" just breaks me. *watches again*
also, was it just me, or was he excessively pretty this ep??


I think the end where everybody is in church was toned down at least a little with the thing where Carter isn't coming next week because of the game. So, true to form, that sort of attendance won't last because it's more reaction than actual faith??

I must go an listen to the 202 podcast. and the 204.

meanwhile, the thing where Jack says to Henry "You're my best friend" was awesome. They're situation makes me hurt.

I really want Jack to start remembering more from the time travel thing. Just to see what they do with it...

See, and I totally tolerated Nathan last year. He was too stiff. I mean too stiff--like "I suck as an actor" stiff, which I know he totally doesn't. This year, they've really let the character calm down, and it works beautifully.

And yes, the "What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?" broke me, too. And he was WAY too pretty. *watches again* Okay, nobody can be way too pretty, I guess. *g*

I figure they'll have to start ramping up on Jack's returning memory. We're getting on in the season, after all, and Henry's got to pull something soon, right? And then we get to see what happens when Jack realizes that their friendship is just totally broken. *sniffle*

Jesus, I should go write fic for this show. Or something.

yes. definitely. I thought he sucked too. He was pretty. but I barely tolerated him most of the time. I thought he was improving toward the end of the first season, but i had no respect for Ed Quinn until this year. Now I'd like to do things to him. :)


I don't really want to consider how few eps we have left to go. *woe* I had not expected Jack to get his memories back, and now that he is, I'm really curious to see what they do with it all. And I know that the friendship is broken, but I don't think it's as broken as first suspected? I think Beverly got more of the blame there which would change at least a little. ...or maybe I'm just with the wishful thinking...


I've not really explored the fic for the show. I don't really have any slash pairings, and most of what I've seen has been Nathan/Jack. And they tend to cover so much of the fanfic without us fans, that I've not yet been driven to looking for more. That said, there should be more of it available for when I need a fix. *nods*
