But... why would I want to write that?
May. 31st, 2016 01:47 pmSo, in looking for information on men's underwear in the 1870s...
What?
Anyway, I came across this article from Cracked called 5 Ridiculous Myths Everyone Believes About the Wild West. My heart is crushed. Truly. Are you telling me that Chris likely couldn't have hit the broad side of a barn with his six shooter! And people probably weren't trying to rob the bank every other day!?
I weep. And I again cry "genre!" on you. Yes, the reality of the old west was boring. The reality of the new west is boring, too. So is the day to day work of most doctors (Seriously, it's not Chicago Med 95% of the time. Sorry.), and that of many police officers (ditto Chicago P.D.). But do I write or read to experience real life? Not so much.
So fie on you, Cracked Magazine! Fie!
(Although if people want to write "Real Wild West" stories of the guys sitting around doing almost nothing...)
