Here we are, nearly a month into [community profile] hc_bingo . How am I doing? Well, let's see, shall we?
To do a run on the card (every possible bingo, every possible extra, every possible achievement), you need to have an absolute minimum of 134 fills (you need to have 10 bingos to fulfill all the content-based achievements and two blackouts to make sure you got the blackout subachievements, you know). So... yeah. That's a lot!

Currently I have 14 works completed as part of completed bingos, plus 3 more that are completed for bingos in progress. Only 117 to go.

Yay?

Anyway, My bingo card (which I initially hated, but now kind of like a lot, mostly) is here.

The chaos is within. )

The obsession continues....

This is the entry for the prompt "surgery" for my all-art hc-bingo. I post it today, because [personal profile] solosundance seems a little blue, and I thought she might like some Bodie angst...

So, I might be a little obsessed with [community profile] hc_bingo right at the moment. Like, really obsessed. I've already completed two bingos, and I have this crazy idea about running the board with the whole thing. This is my master post to keep track of all that. I'm hoping I'll get it all done, and I have one of the achievements in mind for nanowrimo.

My bingo card (which I initially hated, but now kind of like a lot, mostly) is here.

The chaos is within. )How obsessed am I really? We shall see....

Fic recs for people who want to read about the boys taking care of the boys.

Fic recs under here... )

I think this took me three times as long as it should have—I kept reading the fics!

Here's a set of Magnificent Seven icons on the theme of isolation (using "being alone in something" as the definition there).

Again, something I haven't done in a long time!
deannie: (Excuse me)
It's been a very long time since I've done this, but....

Here's a piece of art... )

Obviously a Supermagnificent AU piece.
deannie: Don't Bother Me (Hemingway)
All right, I've never done a playlist before, but I'm trying for a Multimedia bingo on my hc_bingo card, so...

Not sure that's how you do it, but it's done now, so... There it is!
deannie: (Excuse me)
So, I accomplished my first bingo of the year, yay me, and I went and asked for a new card because I wasn't liking mine so much. This is what I got.

Suddenly liking that first one much better... )

If I could ditch de-aging and all the mate-for-life soul-bonding, I'd be good, because dude, forced to hurt somebody and electrocution...? Yeah, those I could do. In fact, I could do this whole darn board excepting the aforementioned mate/soul/de-aging... Ah well! The other one really is growing on me!

I don't like my card much. I mean, I don't hate it, but it's definitely not the amazing hot bed of fantastic ideas that 2014's was.

Luckily, I have a full blown bingo in my head for it so I can bang that out and get a new card ASAP :).

And yes, I'm not normal. I get that.

[personal profile] solosundance has asked me to put one foot in each word and given my the following trio:

Dana Scully, Jim Ellison, and Nathan Jackson.

To which I say...

Bring It On

SHAG: I'm still going with first season Dana. I wouldn't throw her off a cliff, and really... yeah. Dana.

MARRY: Totally and completely Nathan. I'm already married to a doctor, so I get what being a doctor's wife entails. Also, he'd give me "me time" (while dallying with Ezra and/or Josiah). I like "me time". And sexy tall black men. :)

CLIFF: Sorry Jim... I loves you, babe, I does! Really! You're tall and muscular and sensitive (and not just in a Sentinel kind of way)... But honestly, of the three of you, who's most likely to survive something like being thrown off a cliff? You'll be okay, honey. Blair bear will come find you, and the two of you deserve to be happy. Once you're out of traction.

THANKS!

Again, if you want a trip from me, reply and I'll give you one.

So many things in this life are Randi's fault. Like this meme...

[personal profile] randi2204  gave me Sam Carter, Dana Scully, and Mary Travis. Which is a difficult trio. But I shall endeavor to shag, marry, or push off a cliff each one of them.

The rules:

- Post on your LJ/DW and tell us which one you would
shag, which one you would marry, and which one you would push off a cliff.

Please feel free to splain your choices!

- Invite others to do the same!

So here we go.

Shag:
Um... I'd have to say Dana Scully. First season Scully because she was her most attractive and interesting then. I think it would start out a timid, careful introduction, but once we got going, she'd finally let loose, and that'd be fun. I wouldn't want to be saddled with her for too long, though. She's all baggage-y!

Marry: Sam Carter. Definitely. Despite her many faults, I have a habit of spending my life with someone who will talk brainy to me. Among her other duties :).

Off the cliff she goes! Mary Travis. Sadly, it's not the fate she deserves, but there's a gun to my metaphorical head, so... Goodbye hot, smart, independent, intelligent woman of the old west! I shall miss you. (There's totally not a cloaked hatak waiting to whisk you away mid-fall, by the way. My metaphorical wife, the aforementioned Sam Carter isn't attracted to brainy independent women, either. Really.)

That was fun! COMMENT AND I WILL GIVE YOU A TRIO OF YOUR OWN!

(Someone suggest others for me, too! I will put on a straight woman hat if you give me men, I promise!)

deannie: (Excuse me)
So, in looking for information on men's underwear in the 1870s...

What?

Anyway, I came across this article from Cracked called 5 Ridiculous Myths Everyone Believes About the Wild West. My heart is crushed. Truly. Are you telling me that Chris likely couldn't have hit the broad side of a barn with his six shooter! And people probably weren't trying to rob the bank every other day!?

I weep. And I again cry "genre!" on you. Yes, the reality of the old west was boring. The reality of the new west is boring, too. So is the day to day work of most doctors (Seriously, it's not Chicago Med 95% of the time. Sorry.), and that of many police officers (ditto Chicago P.D.). But do I write or read to experience real life? Not so much.

So fie on you, Cracked Magazine! Fie!

(Although if people want to write "Real Wild West" stories of the guys sitting around doing almost nothing...)

In just a few short weeks, if all goes well, Magnificent Seven will surpass Sentinel as the fandom wherein I have written the most fics.

As the title says, I'm not sure how I feel about that.

It blew past Real Ghostbusters and Stargate without comment or lament. I loved both fandoms, but I don't yearn for them the way I used to. They're the comfortable jeans that got the rip in them and you tossed them because, really, they were nice while they lasted but now they're done.

It even topped X-Files and I didn't blink. X-Files was where I cut my teeth, you know?

But Sentinel... I wouldn't be the writer I am without it. The fics I wrote in that fandom were maybe not the greatest fics of all time, but they helped me figure out what not to do. And they helped me figure out how to tell the story I wanted to. I watch it now and I STILL like it. I still have stories poking me to be finished, though I can't ever write them once I sit down to do so.

Sentinel's the pair of $300 designer jeans in the back of the closet, two sizes too small, that you just can't get rid of because someday—someday—you might fit into them again.

I don't know if I want this upstart pair of flashy jeans called Magnificent Seven to eclipse those designer beauties in the closet, you know?

But in just two more stories—stories that are already half written—it will.

Off to ponder what that means...

And so it begins. The Magnificent Seven Super AU that is all Randi's fault...

Assembly
Magnificent Seven AU
summary: Seven very different men meet in a town called Four Corners. Can they come together and use their talents to save an Indian village? And what will happen if they do?

Part one up today. More to follow. I plan to have the whole thing polished and up by the end of the month. Bible will be up this weekend.

So, I'm doing [community profile] getyourwordsout this year, at the level of 250,000. So far, I'm doing pretty well—about 50,000 words in already. I've mostly been working on a Magnificent Seven-Castle crossover series which is entirely the fault of one [personal profile] mendax . But here's a list of what I've done. Whether it's been keeping insanity at bay or adding to it, I don't know...

List of fics since January 1, 2016 )

On the Mag 7 front, I have a Superhero Old West AU story in progress, a Zombie Old West AU series in progress, and more of Young Mister Ryan to come.

We also have a bingo challenge in the community, and I decided that, since we're trying to get to 3000 Magnificent Seven fics on Archive of Our Own, I'd give myself an added challenge of making them all 500-1000 word Magnificent Seven character studies... or something.

Anyway, here's the card! )

I'm totally nuts, huh? Oh well! At least I'm having fun!

This is the 777 meme:

1. Go to page 7 (or 77) of your current WIP.
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written.
Tag seven other people.

This is page 7, line 7, and Chris has been shot, but, you know, that's not that big a deal in this particular AU...

Assembling is the name of the fic )

Wow... aren't they super?

I tag anyone and everyone, but especially [personal profile] celli just because.

So, I've had sort of an explosion of writing lately, both because I am having stress at home (which makes me want to write to escape) and because, well, the brain, she has ideas. Lots of them.

I posted a Castle/Mag 7 ATF crossover last night and looked up on my AO3 dashboard to see that Magnificent Seven has now bumped X-Files from the number two slot on the list of stories per fandom. Sentinel still reigns at 58 fics, but Magnificent Seven is coming on strong at 39, with one awaiting beta and two more in the works.

I'm doing pretty well on getyourwordson — 1000 words ahead of schedule for the month already. I know that'll dip as my wife starts her service block and I have less energy to sit up and write at night after having wrangled kiddos and such. I also feel like I have to shore up words for the weekends, because there's just never any time to write then, so... Yeah.

Anyway, that's all. Just checking in. Hope everyone's doing okay!
deannie: Don't Bother Me (Hemingway)
So, I went and joined [community profile] getyourwordsout . Perhaps not the smartest move I've ever made, but I did it. We'll see how the year goes, both family-wise and writing-wise.

In doing this, I also figured I'd clean out my old writing files—I have tons of files of stories I've already posted, and who needs those around, right?

But I found some really fun beginnings to stories that I'd like to finish, so on top of the series I haven't finished, I'm going to try my hand at getting these little one-shots out, too. Just for on those days when zombies and Old West superheroes seem a bit overwhelming.

Like I said we'll see how this goes. First up—a half-written I Spy (the real one, with Robert Culp) fic. Should give me today's 410 words! Yay!

I think....
